Small Disadvantaged Business (8a) Training
When: January 13th from 9 am - 10:30 am
Did you know the federal government is the world’s largest buyer of goods and services? On an average year, the federal government spends approximately $500 billion or more. Last year, small businesses in the Portland District of the Small Business Administration (SBA) were awarded $1.2 billion in federal contracts. The federal government also has a goal to award 5% of prime contracts to Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs). Many of the contract awards made to SDBs are through the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program. To qualify for the 8(a) Program, a small business must be owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individual and unlike other certification programs, there is a 9 year lifetime to the program.
